The Home School Option

I’ve written on this topic before, and I have a long history of being passionate about the option to home school.

With all going on in schools with the LGBTQ+ agenda being pushed, the security issues, and the not at all new issue of the schools not teaching kids anything to help them grow in knowledge, people are considering home schooling more than ever before.

I was home schooled in first grade and then again in grades six through nine. My parents made sacrifices to keep us at home and teach us themselves. With 4 children and not a lot of money, home schooling was not just an easy option for them. My mom worked in the day, my dad stayed home with us and then he worked in the evening until he retired.

The payout of this was worth it to them. By eighth grade I was reading and comprehending at a college level. I understood history and civics at senior level, and on top of my academics I was learning how to think and not just remember facts.

That is what the education system does. It creates regurgitaters, not thinkers. It is a pulpit for the government narrative, not a place to encourage free thinkers.

I remember in 12th grade I had a social studies teacher who was an absolute communist. I wrote papers that to this day I can look back on and see my well reasoned arguments and yet he was giving me Cs. On the exams I was scoring very well but in written assignments I was doing poorly. This man would argue with me in class because he couldn’t stand my free market perspectives. Instead of encouraging my ability to think freely he penalized me. He was not there to teach, he was there to indoctrinate.

In all my years of school, from the first years as a little girl to the completion of my master’s degree, I can count on one hand how many teachers actually worked to light an intellectual fire in me and still have fingers left.

It was truly my parents who taught me to self educate, to question, to be curious. It was my parents who taught me to be discerning, and to chase my questions down to find answers. It was my parents who protected me from being brain washed or preyed upon. It was my parents who taught me to live bravely and brightly, curious and free.

No one will love your kids like you do. No one wants to see them thrive like you do. No one wants them to dream and create and be free like you do. No one has a greater interest in their ability to reason than you do. The government is interested in compliant cogs in their machine.
