Poem: Civil Disobedience

There is such a contradiction between what I see on live streams of the ongoing protests against global tyranny and what the media is reporting.

I see flag waving and the voices of people uniting for the national anthem. But the media (and government) calls it sedition.

I see folks sharing food, building potluck tables – a timeless ritual throughout civilization to bond through the sharing of meals – the media (and government) calls it terrorism.

I see peaceful resistance by the hard working laborers of nations standing up against tyranny. The sound of honking, a nuisance to deal with in the fight for freedom. The government tries to make it illegal.

Let us not forget these wise words, forgotten by today’s left, who have turned Marxist: “One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

So I share today another poem from Shining Hard that I wrote last fall that ring true even more today, my celebration of everyone who stands up against tyranny.
